What is Sublimation?

Sublimation printing is a very specific process of picture/pattern application.  A special paper is printed with special ink on sublimation printers in preparation for transfer of the image to the Sublimation Blanks.  High heat is used in the application process as the inks need temperatures of up to 400 degrees Fahrenheit to transform into the gas that then fuses
into the chosen materials or blanks.

Many materials can be sublimated on, however most must be specific to sublimation as it requires a particular preparation to assure good adhesion.  Items for sublimation are known as Blanks. Fabrics are best at 100% polyester or at a minimum of 65% polyester/35% cotton.  Often in higher amounts of cotton the prints are not as vibrant and tend to fade with washing.

When sublimating on Colored items, keep in mind that white areas in patterns will show up as the color of the item being sublimated.  Dark inks show up much better on colored Blanks.
